Story  ~

'Hello Evans!" Said James cheerfully, and Lily turned to him,
"What now, Potter?" She sighed.
"Nothing much... Just wondering if you wanted to give me a kiss good luck for tomorrow's Quidditch match!" He smiled slyly. How do you become an idiot by 13? Lily thought to herself.
"No."
"Why not, Lily?" He asked, following her as she walked down the hall.
"Because, James, what good will a kiss do if your big head pulls you off the broom anyway?" She frowned, waspishly. She took a short cut through a portrait to her transfiguration classroom, and James followed her. The pair of them walked in silence, and occasionally, James snuck a glance at Lily, who was fuming underneath her long, billowing hair. Going into their transfiguration class, Lily sat at the back with one of her friends, and James slumped into his usual seat, up the front with Sirius.
"No luck, getting a snog from Evan, I take it." Sirius chuckled, and looked back at Lily, "What excuse did you go for this time?"
"Kiss for luck." James was pretty angry himself. It's just one measly kiss! She wont even give me that. He thought. Remus sat in the seat on the other side of James and took his book, his parchment, his ink and a quill out.
"What's wrong now, James?" He sympathised, "Did you try and kiss Lily again?" James just turned to glare at him. "I'll take that as a yes..."
The Transfiguration Professor entered the classroom, and glared at them, so they all shut up.

Lily and Bethany walked out of class together, talking in low voices. They passed James and his gang, and shut up long enough to glare at them, before carrying out their conversation,
"Can you believe he wants me to kiss him! What a rat!?" Lily growled, and Bethany nodded,
"What a joke! If he ever passed a subject, maybe someone like Riley Midgen may even look at him, then again, I think Riley Midgen does fancy him!" She gossiped,
"Why would I care about who Riley Midgen fancies? I'm going through a crisis! That big-headed jerk wants to kiss me!" Lily cried. That brought her to the attention of Head Boy, Lucius.
"Well, well, well... Two little Gryffindors, gossiping between class, so..." He grinned, like a cat who got the cream, "What's the scoop little ones?"
"Leave us alone Malfoy!" Cried Lily, and Lucius bent down so he was eye to eye with her,
"Careful little  Gryffindor, don't want to be losing house points, now, do you? Off you run." He said, taking care to be as patronising as humanly possible. Lily grew angrier still, and drew her wand, but Bethany was slightly frightened of Lucius, so she pulled on Lily's arm and dragged her to the great hall.

"What did you do?" Huffed Lily, fixing her clothes, "I could have taken him!"  Bethany shook her head,
"You sound like James when you say that." She sighed, but had a quick bite of sandwich at the look Lily gave her.
" I, am nothing like Potter!" She shouted, and Bethany gulped, pulling her arm, until Lily sat down again,
"Don't you wish you could be though?" James sat beside Lily, and smiled at her,
"I would rather swim in the lake with whatever squids eat, strapped to my face." Lily said, and James roared with laughter,
"Who's stopping you?" He said,
"My fear of being eaten by the giant squid, and the fact that I know I will never be or like you." She huffed, and returned to her bacon and egg muffin.
"Come on Evans, just one itty, bitty kiss!" James finally stopped smiling, and looked desperate.
"Do you remember what I said when you first asked me that?" Lily sighed, and turned to him, James thought for a moment,
"You told me I will never win." He said, thoughtfully, "But you're not a seer, and it's not set in stone, so... I could!" He brightened, and left.
"He never gives up..." Bethany said, in a slightly awed voice.
"I wish he would." Lily said, munching down the last of her muffin.

That night, Lily slept like a log. She woke up, and thought about the Quidditch match, if James could actually catch the snitch, like he usually did, he would be a hero! Gryffindor would win the house cup! Not that Lily cared. He was such a show off, that stupid snitch he took, it's just a trophy to show how self obsessed he is. Idiot.

"So, what do you think our chances are against Hufflepuff?" Bethany asked Lily over breakfast that morning.
"Ok, as long as Potter's head doesn't fill the stadium." Lily snickered, and Bethany nodded in agreement.
"So, Evans, you never gave me an answer on that kiss." Said James, sidling up beside her, accompanied by Remus, Sirius and Peter. Lily threw her pumpkin juice in his face and walked out of the front doors.
"Rejected AGAIN!" Laughed Sirius,
"Oh, shut up Padfoot!" James snapped, running his hand through his now wet hair.

"- And Potter catches the snitch! Another glorious victory for Gryffindor, 290 to 120!" The commentator shouted over the cheering crowd. He took his wand away from his throat, and cheered for his house.
Gryffindor rushed down to the pitch to congratulate the team, and Lily was swept up in it.
"Beth! Help! I don't want to congratulate the show offs!" She shouted, slightly distressed.
"Need a hand?" Someone asked, and there was James, hovering above her, smiling down.
"I can see up your nose, and through to the back of your skull." Lily huffed, "I'll be fine." James pulled her up anyway, and the two of them left flew down to behind the stadium, where the other students were pouring out. James let Lily jump off before catching her hand.
"Don't you want to thank me?" He asked,
"Why would I do that. I was much happier being trampled by everyone." She turned her back on him, before he pulled her close, and pecked her on the lips.
"I win!" He laughed, lightly, and flew back to the pitch, while Lily stormed back to the castle.
This is a little FanFiction I wrote for a SecretSanta on another site. It's a Lily/James Harry Potter pairing. Hope you like it! :D
